Budrigannews.com – White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, declined to respond to inquiries from a journalist on whether US president Joe Biden will return the $5.2 million in crusade gifts recently given by FTX organizer Sam Bankman-Broiled.
“Will the president give that back?” Zeke Miller, a reporter for the Associated Press, posed the question, “does he call on all politicians who got campaign donations that may have come from customer money to return those funds?” at a press briefing on December 13.

Miller pressed, “I’m asking the president’s opinion, though.” Jean-Pierre stated once more that she was “covered by the Hatch Act,” and he added:
“I just can’t talk to political contributions or anything related to that I cannot speak about it from here.”
Miller asked Jean-Pierre once more for her opinion on Biden, but she said she couldn’t talk about it because she couldn’t “even his opinion, even his thoughts about the contributions, donations — cannot speak […] about that from here.” Miller pushed for her opinion.
On December 13, Bankman-Fried was charged with violating contributions laws, obstructing the Federal Election Commission’s functions, and making contributions in the names of others, among other violations of campaign finance laws.
With $5.2 million in contributions, he was the second-largest “CEO-contributor” to Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, trailing only media mogul Micheal Bloomberg’s $56 million in contributions.
The founder of FTX was also a major individual donor in the 2022 midterm elections, contributing $36.8 million to Democratic candidates, making him once more the second-largest Democratic party donor in the cycle.

According to public records, Bankman-Fried contributed just over $240,000 to Republicans during the midterm elections.
