U.S. preparing for cyber defense of midterm elections

Budrigannews.com – The head of U.S. Cyber Command stated that the military’s Cyber Command hunted down foreign adversaries overseas prior to this year’s midterm elections and destroyed their infrastructure before they could strike.

According to General Paul Nakasone of the United States Army, the cyber effort to secure the vote began prior to November 8 and continued until the elections were certified.

“We led tasks steadily to ensure that our unfamiliar enemies couldn’t use framework to affect us,” Nakasone, who is additionally the head of the U.S. Public safety Office, told columnists.

“We wanted to make sure that we took it down at key times,” the statement reads. “We understood how foreign adversaries utilize infrastructure throughout the world, we had that mapped pretty well.”

Cyber Command may have carried out both offensive and defensive cyber operations, according to Nakasone’s language.

While he acknowledged that he saw the same kinds of foreign adversaries as in the past, he declined to specify which adversaries were targeted.

Nakasone stated, “I saw the same foreign enemies that I’ve seen before, a lot of the same ones, the proxies and the elements of the Russian and Iranian governments that do this kind of work.”

In recent years, the United States has given cyber operations a high priority to protect major elections, especially since U.S. intelligence agencies accused Russia of trying to sway the 2016 elections, which Moscow has denied. Additionally, U.S. agencies asserted that Iran was attempting to influence American elections, which Tehran refuted.

He claimed that the objective was to expose those adversaries through collaboration with the private sector and foreign governments that hosted his teams.

He stated, “I am attempting to make it as expensive (as possible) for our adversaries to operate in terms of their time, money, and focus.”
