A vegetable oil that comes from the seeds of the soybean is called soybean oil. It is the second most used vegetable oil and one of the most commonly used cooking oils. In addition to serving as a base for oil paints and printing inks, processed soybean oil is utilized as a drying oil.
The production of edible soy oil from cultivated soybeans is mentioned in Chinese records from before 2000 BCE. Before written records were kept, ancient Chinese literature reveals that soybeans were extensively cultivated and highly valued as a resource for the production of soybean oil.
To create soybean oil, the soybeans are broken, adapted to dampness content, warmed to somewhere in the range of 60 and 88 °C (140-190 °F), moved into pieces, and dissolvable separated with hexanes. The oil is then refined, mixed for various uses, and occasionally hydrogenated. “Vegetable oil” is sold as liquid or partially hydrogenated soybean oils, and many processed foods contain them. Animal feed is made of the majority of the remaining residue, which is soybean meal.
