The Snapchat messenger is owned by the American company Snap Inc., which also owns the following products: services like Bitmoji and Zenly, smart glasses called Spectacles. Snapchat Inc. was founded on September 16, 2011, by Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel. On September 24, 2016, it changed its name to Snapchat Inc.
At a price of $17 per share, Star Inc. listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange on March 2, 2017. The company was valued at around $33 billion at the start of trading. Since the IPO of Facebook, this was the largest placement of US technology companies.
Snap paid $250-350 million for the Zenly map location sharing service in June.
