American public company Palantir Technologies specializes in big data analytics. It was established in 2003 by Peter Thiel, Nathan Gettings, Joe Lonsdale, Stephen Cohen, and Alex Karp, with its headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
The Lord of the Rings’ magical palantri, or “seeing-stones,” were described as indestructible crystal balls that were used for communication and to observe events in other parts of the world. This is where the company’s name comes from.
The company is well-known for three particular projects: Foundry, Gotham, and Apollo are all Palantirs. Counter-terrorism analysts at US Department of Defense and United States Intelligence Community (USIC) offices use Palantir Gotham.

Information Warfare Monitor, a Canadian public-private partnership that existed from 2003 to 2012, utilized Gotham as well. The operating system for continuous delivery and deployment in all environments is Palantir Apollo.
The United States Department of Defense has approved five of their SaaS offerings for Mission Critical National Security Systems (IL5). Corporate clients like Morgan Stanley, Merck KGaA, Airbus, Wejo, Lilium, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles use Palantir Foundry.
