Government can’t handle stranded ship in Suez Canal
Budrigannews.com – The chairman of the Suez Canal Authority disclosed to Al-Arabiya TV on Monday that efforts are underway to refloat a cargo vessel carrying grain from Ukraine that has come to a stop in the Suez Canal.
Osama Rabie told Al-Arabiya that tugboats are attempting to refloat the M/V Glory, which ran aground while joining the convoy traveling south through the canal.
According to the information provided by the trackers VesselFinder and MarineTraffic, the ship is a bulk carrier based in the Marshall Islands.
According to the Istanbul-based Joint Coordination Centre (JCC), which is in charge of overseeing grain exports from Ukraine, it left Ukraine’s Chornomorsk port on December 25 with 65,970 metric tons of corn for China.
A Jan. 3 inspection, according to the JCC, which includes representatives from the United Nations, Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia, allowed the ship to continue its journey from Istanbul.
