Online display advertisements are provided by Criteo, an advertising firm. The headquarters of the business are in Paris, France, where it was founded.
In 2005, Jean-Baptiste Rudelle, Franck Le Ouay, and Romain Niccoli established Criteo in Paris, France. In April 2008, Criteo introduced its first product after dedicating its first four years to research and development. Criteo established a location in Silicon Valley in 2010. Criteo established its new headquarters in Paris, France, in 2012.
Greg Coleman was appointed president of Criteo on April 7, 2011. Coleman previously held the positions of executive vice president of global sales for Yahoo! and president and chief revenue officer of The Huffington Post.
The company raised $251 million in an initial public offering (IPO) in October 2013.
Rudelle took over as executive chairman on January 1, 2016, while Eric Eichmann was elevated to chief executive officer from president and chief operating officer (COO). In a lawsuit filed in June 2016, Criteo alleged that Steelhouse, a rival ad tech company, had erroneously claimed credit for user visits to retailers’ websites.
Steelhouse filed a countersuit, accusing Criteo of unfair competition and false advertising. In November 2016, both parties made the decision to mutually drop their lawsuits after Criteo’s request for an injunction was turned down in October 2016. Criteo strengthened its ecommerce serving capabilities by acquiring HookLogic, a retail exchange, ad server, and attribution company, on October 4, 2016.
Mollie Spilman was appointed COO by Criteo in October 2017.
Criteo’s revenue decreased by $25 million in 2017 as a result of the introduction of the Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP) feature in Safari 11 and later versions of Apple’s operating system.
However, Criteo reportedly had its “platform architecture” redesigned since the end of 2017 and was working on a “sustainable solution for the long-term.” The perception that the General Data Protection Regulation would have a negative impact on Criteo was another factor.
