Criminal situation in the US is high-DHS
Budrigannews.com – The danger climate in the US will remain elevated before very long, with solitary guilty parties and gatherings spurred by a scope of philosophies representing a risk, the U.S. Division of Country Security (DHS) said on Wednesday.
According to a DHS bulletin, threat actors could use certifications related to the midterm elections, the holiday season and large gatherings associated with them, and the two-year anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, to justify or carry out acts of violence.
The purpose of the “National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin” that was released on Wednesday was to inform the general public about the country’s threat landscape and ways to remain safe.
Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of homeland security, stated, “Our homeland continues to face a heightened threat environment – as we have tragically seen, in recent acts of targeted violence – and is driven by violent extremists seeking to further a political or social goal or act on a grievance.”
The threat assessment comes after the recent Thanksgiving holiday, during a week marked by gun violence with two fatal shootings, one of which occurred in a Colorado Springs, Colorado, LGBTQ nightclub and killed five people;and the other, in which a WalmartIn Chesapeake, Virginia, an employee shot and killed six coworkers before turning the weapon on himself.
Since January 2021, when officials renewed their focus on domestic threats following an attack on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump, it was the seventh such advisory issued by DHS.
According to the department’s bulletin, “targets of potential violence include public gatherings, faith-based institutions, the LGBTQI+ community, schools, racial and religious minorities, government facilities and personnel, U.S. critical infrastructure, the media, and perceived ideological opponents.”
