Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. is a restaurant chain that specializes in making burritos and tacos in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, and France. The Mexican chipotle seasoning, which is a smoked red jalapeno pepper, is the source of the company’s name.
The company declares its mission as “Food with Integrity” (whole food), highlighting its efforts to utilize natural products and the meat of livestock raised in a more natural manner than other restaurant chains. One of the first fast-casual restaurant chains is Chipotle.
Steve Wells founded the business in 1993. At first, the business owned 16 Colorado restaurants. McDonald’s Corporation became the primary investor in 1998. Chipotle had 500 locations by the time McDonald’s completely phased out the chain in 2006.
