Acquisitions were financed with the raised funds. The company bought Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises, Westours, Seabourn Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, and Cunard Line between 1989 and 1999. In order to distinguish the parent company from its flagship cruise line subsidiary, the name Carnival Corporation was chosen in 1993.
