Budrigannews.com – Even though the United States is getting closer to a possible ban on the Chinese-owned app due to security concerns, the Mexican president stated on Monday that the country’s government will not prohibit the popular video sharing social media application TikTok.
After the CEO of TikTok was questioned by lawmakers in the United States last week, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador promised “complete freedom” when asked about the platform during his regular morning news conference.
According to claims that it could be used for extensive data collection, content censorship, and harm to the mental health of children, some lawmakers in the United States are urging the government to ban the app.
On Monday, the Chinese ministry of foreign affairs stated that the United States has not provided any evidence that TikTok poses a threat to national security.
In the meantime, the app has been banned from government-issued devices in Canada since last month, citing security and privacy concerns.
TikTok has also been banned in other nations and organizations.
