Bahamian ex-minister was involved in large bribes

Budrigannews.com – During her time as minister for youth, sports, and culture in the Bahamas, Lanisha Rolle was charged with bribery and participating in a scheme to award government contracts for deals worth more than $700,000.
One count of bribery and fourteen counts of conspiracy to commit fraud under false pretenses were brought against Rolle. The former minister is accused of awarding more than a dozen public works contracts without proper background checks, according to the prosecution.
Rolle’s better half, Vontenken Rolle, his uncle and two others were likewise accused in association of purportedly acquiring cash for contracts on different brandishing buildings.
In the midst of an audit of the country’s sports authority, Rolle resigned from her Cabinet position in February 2021. All of the accused were granted bail, and the case was postponed until the end of May. She has denied any wrongdoing numerous times.
The Nassau Guardian reported that she said in November, “I stand by my record that as minister, as far as I am aware, all proper procedures were followed, as far as I was aware as minister,” and that “justice will prevail.”
