Pakistani mosque explosion death toll reaches 87

Budrigannews.com – A hospital official said on Tuesday that the number of people killed in the suicide bombing that destroyed a mosque in Pakistan had increased to 87, one day after one of the largest attacks in the unstable South Asian nation.
The attack took place in one of the most heavily fortified parts of the city of Peshawar in the northwest, where the offices of the police and counterterrorism departments are located.
The latest in a series of attacks on police, the bomber set himself on fire shortly after hundreds of worshippers lined up for the afternoon prayer.
Mohammad Asim, a hospital official, stated that 87 people had died and that 57 were being treated, seven of whom were in critical condition.
Nobody has claimed any guilt.
The Sunni and sectarian Islamist groups under the umbrella of the Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have denied responsibility.
