Who is looking for classified materials at Trump facilities
Budrigannews.com – The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that lawyers for former U.S. President Donald Trump searched Trump Tower and one of his golf courses after a judge instructed them to attest to complying with a subpoena to turn over all classified materials.
According to the report, which cited people familiar with the situation, Trump’s legal team hired an outside company to conduct the search of his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, in recent weeks, as well as Trump Tower in New York.
According to the report, the team also offered the FBI the chance to observe the search, but they were turned down.
According to The Washington Post, Trump’s lawyers have informed the Justice Department that the outside team did not discover any new classified information during their search.
More than 20 boxes of government records, including 11 sets of classified documents, were discovered during an FBI search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in August.
After Trump leaves office in January 2021, he will be the subject of a federal criminal investigation into whether or not he broke the Espionage Act, a 1917 law that makes it a crime to release information that is harmful to national security.
Requests for clarification that were sent out early on Wednesday outside of normal business hours were not immediately responded to by representatives of The Trump Organization, the Department of Justice, or the FBI.
