Way more wants to get permit for self-driving cars

The California Public Utilities Commission’s decision on its application, which was submitted on Monday, could take months. The General Motors Corporation Since June, San Francisco has been charging for driverless rides, with only’s Cruise possessing the permit to date.

Chatham stated during a test drive on Friday that the more “assertive” autonomous driving system partially explains the smoother acceleration and braking observed by a Reuters reporter in comparison to a similar vehicle a year ago.
However, waymo can be patient. Waymo did not honk when a double-parked driver was slow to pass on a one-way, one-lane road on Friday. According to Chatham, a 13-year veteran of the company, its vehicles typically sound the horn only when a backing car approaches too closely.
Since May, Waymo’s “rider-only” driverless service has been transporting fare-paying passengers in self-driving vehicles with a human backup driver in San Francisco.
