Walmart (WMT) Could Add a Streaming Service to its Membership Program – NYT
By Sam Boughedda
Investing.com – Walmart (NYSE:WMT) is reportedly exploring the option of adding a streaming service to its Walmart+ membership program.
According to a report by The New York Times on Tuesday, its sources told them the retail giant has held talks with major media companies about adding a streaming service to its membership program.
The move is said to be part of an effort to branch out its relationship with customers beyond its brick-and-mortar stores. Walmart is said to have spoken with companies such as Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA), Disney, and Paramount in recent weeks as it assesses which service would add the most value.
The Walmart+ membership costs $12.95 per month and includes free shipping on orders, discounts on fuel, and a free six-month subscription to Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) Premium.
