Vin Fast is the first electric car for the USA
Budrigannews.com – VinFast, a manufacturer of electric vehicles in Vietnam, made the announcement on Friday that the first shipment of 999 vehicles to the United States had been made.According to the company, customers should receive their first vehicles by the end of December.
VinFast authorities said the number 999 for the vehicles sent in the main cluster had been picked on the grounds that it is viewed as a fortunate number in Vietnam.
Le Thi Thu Thuy, the chief executive officer of VinFast, stated, “There is no luckier number than 999.”According to officials, the first shipment of VinFast EVs was transported by a Panamanian-chartered transport ship with a capacity of up to 2,000 vehicles.
According to Thuy, some of the VF 8 electric SUVs that will be shipped out on Friday will be sent to the auto subscription service Autonomy in the United States, but the majority will be delivered to retail customers who have ordered the vehicle. According to Thuy, VinFast anticipated being able to ship a second batch of automobiles to the United States, its primary export market, in the month of January.
The automaker is currently awaiting final regulatory approvals to complete construction of its electric vehicle plant in North Carolina. Production is anticipated to begin at the factory in July 2024.
In accordance with the terms of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), vehicles produced at the North Carolina facility would be eligible for incentives.By 2024, automakers must source 50% of the critical minerals used in EV batteries from North America or U.S. allies, and by 2026, they must source 80%.
According to Thuy, “The IRA came as a surprise to all of us, but it doesn’t really affect our strategy in the United States.”Customers of ours will be eligible for the tax incentive as soon as we begin producing automobiles in the United States.”
