US stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday

Budrigannews.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.62%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.92%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which rose 7.42% or 10.16 points to trade at 147.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) added 1.44% or 0.54 points to end at 37.97 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) was up 0.92% or 1.19 points to 130.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:CRM), which fell 4.61% or 8.03 points to trade at 166.33 at the close. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) declined 4.10% or 10.84 points to end at 253.67 and The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) was down 1.92% or 3.24 points to 165.28.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) which rose 9.98% to 14.77, United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UAL) which was up 8.09% to settle at 38.23 and Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) which gained 7.54% to close at 9.13.
The worst performers were ServiceNow Inc (NYSE:NOW) which was down 13.09% to 426.19 in late trade, Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH) which lost 8.05% to settle at 189.47 and Paycom Soft (NYSE:PAYC) which was down 6.70% to 298.50 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Sharps Compliance Corp (NASDAQ:SMED) which rose 196.14% to 8.44, Canoo Inc (NASDAQ:GOEV) which was up 53.16% to settle at 3.63 and Rhythm Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:RYTM) which gained 42.22% to close at 6.67.
The worst performers were United Maritime Corp (NASDAQ:USEA) which was down 38.28% to 4.37 in late trade, VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX) which lost 26.13% to settle at 6.73 and Kaspien Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:KSPN) which was down 22.47% to 5.28 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1731 to 1370 and 133 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1960 fell and 1756 advanced, while 204 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.28% to 27.29.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.49% or 8.50 to $1,723.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 8.04% or 8.37 to hit $95.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 7.39% or 7.91 to trade at $99.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.00, while USD/JPY fell 0.43% to 136.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 108.01.
