WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. consumer confidence increased more than expected in December amid optimism about the labor market, which could help to underpin the economy early next year.
The Conference Board said on Wednesday that its consumer confidence index increased to 110.7 this month from a downwardly revised 101.0 in November. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the index rising to 104.0 from the previously reported 102.0.
