Ukraine’s GDP decreased by 30% in 2022-Minister
Budrigannews.com – Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stated on Thursday that the conflict with Russia contributed to a 30.4% decrease in Ukraine’s gross domestic product in 2022, which was the largest annual decline in over 30 years.
In a statement, Svyrydenko, who is also first deputy prime minister, said that Ukraine’s economy had suffered its largest losses since it gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, though the decline was smaller than initially anticipated.
Svyrydenko stated, “The successes of Ukraine’s defense forces on the front lines, the coordinated work of the government and businesses, the unbreakable spirit of the population, the speed of rebuilding damaged critical infrastructure units, as well as systemic financial support from international donors have allowed us to keep up the economic front and continue our movement toward victory.”
Russian missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, according to the economy ministry, continue to exert pressure on business activity and sentiment.
In 2021, Ukraine’s GDP increased by 3.4%.
