Ukraine and Russia make contradictory statements on control in Blahodatne

Budrigannews.com – In the eastern part of the Donetsk region, the Blahodatne area, Ukraine’s military reported repelling an attack on Sunday, while Russia’s Wagner private military group claimed control of the village.
In its daily morning report, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces stated, “Units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of… Blahodatne… in the Donetsk region,” referring to the fighting that occurred on Saturday.
In addition, it claimed that its forces stopped Russian attacks on 13 additional settlements in the Donetsk region.
On Saturday, the Wagner Group, which is considered a transnational criminal organization by the United States, announced on the messaging app Telegram that its units had taken control of Blahodatne.
The precise line of contact has been unclear as fighting has intensified in the Donetsk region, particularly around the town of Bakhmut, where some of the war’s most intense fighting has occurred in recent weeks. The Wagner Group has previously made exaggerated claims of success.
Despite Ukraine’s assertion that the Russian offensive on Bakhmut has not reached its conclusion, the situation on the front line has become increasingly challenging. It was acute, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday.
According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, the governor of the Donetsk region, on the messaging app Telegram, Russian attacks on the region on Saturday left four civilians dead, one in Bakhmut, and 17 wounded.
In order to fight back against Russian and pro-Moscow forces that are slowly advancing along a portion of the front line, Ukraine has received promises of Western battle tanks and is looking for fighter jets.
The top aide to Zelenskiy said on Saturday that Ukraine and its allies were having expedited talks about its requests for long-range missiles to stop Russia from destroying Ukrainian cities.
