UK new records in 50 years-CPI more hits 11%
Budrigannews.com -The UK has set a new record over the past 50 years – the consumer price index has increased by more than 11%. Inflation in the United Kingdom reached a new multi-year high in March, as rising food and energy prices continue to put constant pressure on consumers’ disposable incomes.
The National Bureau of Statistics said that despite the government’s efforts to limit the growth of regulated household electricity bills, it grew by 2.0% in March alone. Economists predicted that the monthly profit would be 1.7%, and the annual profit would be 10.7%.
These figures are the latest evidence that UK incomes have not kept pace with inflation this year, despite the fastest wage growth in 20 years. Data released on Tuesday showed that the average figure excluding bonuses increased by 5.7%.
