U. S. tells Ukraine not to rush the offensive and prepare

Budrigannews.com – A senior official from the Biden administration stated on Friday that senior U.S. officials are advising Ukraine to delay launching a major offensive against Russian forces until the most recent supply of U.S. weaponry is in place and training has been provided.
On the condition of anonymity, the official stated that the United States was sticking to its decision not to provide Ukraine with Abrams tanks at this time due to a tank-related dispute with Germany.
When asked if he supports Poland’s plan to send German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine, President Joe Biden, who approved a new $2.5 billion weapons package for Ukraine this week, told reporters at the White House, “Ukraine is going to get all the help they need.”
According to the official, discussions between the United States and Ukraine regarding any counter-offensive have been centered on ensuring that the Ukrainians devote sufficient time to training on the most recent weapons provided by the United States.
If the Ukrainians take advantage of the training and the significant influx of new weaponry, U.S. officials believe an offensive will be more successful.
On Thursday, the United States of America said that it would send hundreds of armored vehicles to Ukraine to use in the conflict.
In recent days, a high-ranking American delegation, which included Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and deputy White House national security adviser Jon Finer, met with officials from Ukraine.
According to the official, Washington believes that Ukraine has expended significant resources to defend the city of Bakhmut, but that the Russians will likely eventually drive the Ukrainians out of that town.
The official stated that if that takes place, there will be no strategic shift on the battlefield.
The official stated that the Ukrainians’ continued commitment to defending Bakhmut comes into play when they are preparing for an offensive to try to drive the Russians out of areas they control in southern Ukraine.
According to the official, U.S. officials are collaborating with Ukrainian officials on this tradeoff.
According to the official, U.S. officials are advising Ukraine to modify how it fights the war rather than attempting to match Russia round for round with artillery fire because Moscow will ultimately gain the advantage through attrition.
According to the official, armored vehicles are included in the most recent supply of weapons supplied by the United States because they will assist Ukraine in changing its approach to fighting the war.
According to Serhiy Haidai, governor of Ukraine’s Luhansk region, fighting has been hindered by bad winter weather on the front lines, but a cold snap that freezes and hardens the ground could make it possible for either side to launch an offensive with heavy equipment, Haidai said.
The official stated that the United States does not intend to send Abrams tanks to Ukraine at this time due to their high cost and challenging upkeep.
Boris Pistorius, the German defense minister, said on Friday that the government was ready to send the Leopard main battle tanks to Ukraine right away if allies agreed. However, he denied that Berlin was blocking the shipment on its own.
