U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.12%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the gained 0.12%, while the index fell 0.65%, and the index lost 1.10%.

The best performers of the session on the were Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 5.72% or 13.29 points to trade at 245.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Walmart Inc (NYSE:) added 2.63% or 3.40 points to end at 132.72 and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 2.42% or 0.77 points to 32.61 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:), which fell 2.87% or 3.01 points to trade at 101.98 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) declined 2.16% or 2.06 points to end at 93.10 and Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) was down 2.11% or 6.33 points to 294.21.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Viatris Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 7.31% to 9.39, Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 5.72% to settle at 245.44 and Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.53% to close at 53.71.

The worst performers were Las Vegas Sands Corp (NYSE:) which was down 7.47% to 36.35 in late trade, Wynn Resorts Limited (NASDAQ:) which lost 7.02% to settle at 59.64 and Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 6.82% to 214.29 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Fednat Holding Co (NASDAQ:) which rose 107.65% to 0.34, Dice Molecules Holdings LLC (NASDAQ:) which was up 62.27% to settle at 40.00 and Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 51.77% to close at 9.41.

The worst performers were Happiness Biotech Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 24.66% to 2.42 in late trade, NeuroMetrix Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 24.30% to settle at 2.15 and Rigel Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 21.00% to 0.90 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1770 to 1334 and 125 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2270 fell and 1535 advanced, while 211 ended unchanged.

Shares in JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.87% or 3.01 to 101.98. Shares in Happiness Biotech Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 24.66% or 0.79 to 2.42. Shares in Dice Molecules Holdings LLC (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; up 62.27% or 15.35 to 40.00. Shares in NeuroMetrix Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 24.30% or 0.69 to 2.15.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 3.64% to 33.63 a new 3-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.06% or 1.05 to $1,674.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.82% or 2.57 to hit $88.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.65% or 2.55 to trade at $93.64 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 0.97, while USD/JPY rose 0.07% to 145.79.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 113.15.
