U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.58%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the declined 0.58% to hit a new 3-months low, while the index fell 0.17%, and the index climbed 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 3.29% or 0.70 points to trade at 21.96 at the close. Meanwhile, American Express Company (NYSE:) added 2.18% or 3.08 points to end at 144.65 and Walmart Inc (NYSE:) was up 1.44% or 2.28 points to 161.04 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Chevron Corp (NYSE:), which fell 3.70% or 6.18 points to trade at 160.65 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) declined 3.06% or 1.07 points to end at 33.85 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) was down 2.06% or 5.75 points to 273.06.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were MGM Resorts International (NYSE:) which rose 3.97% to 36.65, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 3.84% to settle at 429.75 and Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 3.35% to close at 120.39.

The worst performers were FMC Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 13.19% to 58.12 in late trade, Bath & Body Works Inc. (NYSE:) which lost 4.95% to settle at 29.56 and The Mosaic Company (NYSE:) which was down 4.86% to 33.69 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were INVO Bioscience Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 292.59% to 2.12, LumiraDx Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was up 215.98% to settle at 0.28 and Akumin Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 144.86% to close at 0.36.

The worst performers were Apollomics Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 42.91% to 0.99 in late trade, Spectaire Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 39.44% to settle at 3.01 and Agrify Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 37.04% to 1.53 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2032 to 870 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2417 fell and 1082 advanced, while 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in FMC Corporation (NYSE:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 13.19% or 8.83 to 58.12. Shares in Bath & Body Works Inc. (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.95% or 1.54 to 29.56. Shares in Apollomics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 42.91% or 0.75 to 0.99. Shares in Spectaire Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 39.44% or 1.96 to 3.01. Shares in Agrify Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 37.04% or 0.90 to 1.53.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.17% to 20.37.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 9.80 to $1,984.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.27% or 2.00 to hit $86.08 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.90% or 1.75 to trade at $90.41 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.07, while USD/JPY fell 0.10% to 149.68.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 105.41.
