U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 2.80%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the added 2.80%, while the index gained 3.06%, and the index gained 3.34%.

The best performers of the session on the were Boeing Co (NYSE:), which rose 5.93% or 7.48 points to trade at 133.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) added 5.55% or 16.61 points to end at 315.76 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) was up 5.36% or 7.92 points to 155.82 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:), which rose 0.25% or 0.14 points to trade at 56.79 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) added 0.95% or 0.83 points to end at 88.38 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.12% or 2.58 points to 233.02.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Twitter Inc (NYSE:) which rose 22.26% to 52.01, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:) which was up 16.67% to settle at 13.30 and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (NYSE:) which gained 16.60% to close at 43.83.

The worst performers were Welltower Inc (NYSE:) which was down 1.48% to 64.41 in late trade, Teleflex Incorporated (NYSE:) which lost 1.08% to settle at 206.25 and Dollar General Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 0.62% to 244.96 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Bit Brother Ltd (NASDAQ:) which rose 185.46% to 0.32, Senti Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 105.60% to settle at 5.14 and Aeroclean Technologies LLC (NASDAQ:) which gained 85.05% to close at 5.94.

The worst performers were Kalvista Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 58.92% to 5.85 in late trade, Oblong Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 40.25% to settle at 0.24 and FaZe Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 39.14% to 4.96 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2845 to 310 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 3127 rose and 736 declined, while 157 ended unchanged.

Shares in Kalvista Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; falling 58.92% or 8.39 to 5.85. Shares in FaZe Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 39.14% or 3.19 to 4.96.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.42% to 29.07.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.92% or 32.65 to $1,734.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.11% or 2.60 to hit $86.23 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.04% or 2.70 to trade at $91.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.69% to 1.00, while USD/JPY fell 0.34% to 144.04.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.45% at 110.04.
