U. S. stock market attracted investments of 160 billion in 2022
Budrigannews.com – The U.S. equity funds still managed to attract substantial inflows despite a bear market that could see the close 2022 lower by more than 20%.
Citi’s analysts found that global funds received more than $50 billion in inflows in 2022, while Europe-based funds received $107 billion in outflows. According to Citi, the “consistently strong” inflows of U.S. equity funds accounted for $161 billion of the global outperformance.
In a client note, the analysts added, “Flows to ESG funds, although smaller in nominal terms, have seen better flows relative to their asset values.”
In the week ending December 28, bond funds saw $1 billion in outflows, while equity funds saw $8.0 billion in inflows, with China accounting for the majority of the inflows to Emerging Markets (EM).
