U. S. preparing new bill to ‘kill’ Tik Tok

Budrigannews.com – Senator Mark Warner said on Sunday that two U.S. senators plan to introduce legislation this week that would allow the government to “ban or prohibit” foreign technology products like the Chinese-owned TikTok.
TikTok would be “one of the potentials” that the bill would examine, according to Warner, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The remarks were made on Sunday by the Democratic senator on Fox News.
The bill comes at a time when TikTok is under more and more pressure because of worries that the Chinese government might have access to user data from the United States.
On Wednesday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee voted to grant President Joe Biden authority to prohibit TikTok. This would be the most expansive ban ever imposed by the United States on any social media app.
Last week, the White House gave government agencies 30 days to make sure that no federal devices or systems contained TikTok. TikTok cannot be installed on state-owned devices in more than 30 U.S. states, Canada, and EU policy institutions.
Based on the types of videos that are sent to users, Warner expressed concern that TikTok “can be a propaganda tool.”
“In terms of foreign technology coming into America, we’ve got to have a systematic approach to make sure we can ban or prohibit it when necessary,” he stated of the bill he plans to introduce.
He stated that he and Republican Senator John Thune planned to present the legislation this week. Warner’s spokesperson stated that an announcement was anticipated for Tuesday.
Insights regarding the proposed bill were not accessible on Sunday. Questions regarding the strategy were not immediately answered by a Thune spokesperson.
