Budrigannews.com – On Tuesday, a representative of the U.S. Justice Department stated that the department is implementing new policies with the intention of increasing the incentives for businesses to report any suspected misconduct to the authorities.
In remarks prepared for an event at Georgetown University, Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Polite of the unit stated that the modifications to the existing policy of the agency apply to all corporate criminal matters handled by the Justice Department’s criminal division.
According to the prepared remarks, the Justice Department will not prosecute businesses if they immediately disclose issues they discover, provide “extraordinary cooperation,” and carry out “extraordinary remediation.”
