U. S. law will restrict sale of weapons

Budrigannews.com – The JR-15, which has become a target of gun control advocates, will be the subject of legislation introduced on Thursday by a group of Democrats in the U.S. Senate directing the Federal Trade Commission to create rules prohibiting the marketing of firearms to children.
A little over a week ago, Democrats made a public plea to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate Wee 1 Tactical’s marketing strategies for the JR-15.22 Long Rifle. In recent years, the AR-15-style rifle, which shares its name, has been used in a number of high-profile, fatal shootings in the United States.
Since Republicans control the House of Representatives, they have consistently argued that any additional gun control measures violate the Second Amendment’s right to keep and bear arms, the bill has little chance of becoming law.
In practice, the Protecting Kids from Gun Marketing Act would empower the Federal Trade Commission to pursue gun manufacturers. Alcohol, tobacco, and other product marketing to minors is already restricted by regulations.
The primary sponsor of the legislation, Senator Ed Markey, stated, “A junior version of the AR-15 has no place in a kid’s toy box.”
Wee 1 Tactical and the FTC did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The JR-15 rifle, according to the company, was made so that adults could safely introduce the next generation to shooting and hunting sports.
