U.S. extends exemptions for Chinese imports
Budrigannews.com – On Friday, the U.S. Trade Representative’s office announced that it would extend China’s “Section 301” tariff exclusions on 352 categories of Chinese import products that were scheduled to expire at the end of 2022 for an additional nine months.
U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai reinstated the tariff exclusions in March as part of her strategy to confront Chinese trade practices. These exclusions include industrial components like pumps and electric motors, some car parts and chemicals, bicycles, and vacuum cleaners.

The extension, according to the USTR, “will help align further consideration of these exclusions with the ongoing comprehensive four year review” of the Section 301 tariffs imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump on approximately $370 billion worth of imports from China.
The tariff review, according to the trade office, will be taking comments until January 17, 2023.
