U.S. doubts Russia’s success in Ukraine

Budrigannews.com – There are clashing perspectives in Russia on the decision about whether to send off a restored hostile in Ukraine, a senior U.S. State Division official said on Tuesday, repeating that Washington would continue to back Kyiv paying little mind to which situation works out.

The conflict that has been going on for ten months because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has turned into the largest in Europe since World War II, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands, the exodus of millions of people from their homes, and the devastation of entire cities.

However, Russia’s invasion has been severely hampered ever since the summer, when it suffered a series of defeats to a Ukrainian counteroffensive that retook portions of the occupied territory and forced Moscow to partially mobilize 300,000 additional troops.

“I believe there are certain individuals within Russia who would want to pursue new offensives in Ukraine.” On the condition of anonymity, a State Department official told reporters in Washington that “there are others who have real questions about the capacity for Russia to actually do that.”

According to the official, Russia is experiencing “significant” ammunition shortages, which pose a serious problem along the war’s front lines. Additionally, the individuals Moscow has called up to join its combat forces are frequently not “cohesive” units.

The official stated, “There are all sorts of things the Russians are dealing with in terms of having the necessary equipment and ammunition that put some constraints on what they may want to do.”

“It’s a very large machine at the same time.”

Ukraine’s top general, Valery Zaluzhniy, told The Financial specialist last week Russia was planning 200,000 new soldiers for a significant hostile that could emerge out of the east, south or even Belarus toward the north as soon as January, however more probable in spring.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid his first visit to Belarus since 2019, igniting concerns in Kyiv that he intends to exert pressure on Belarus, another former Soviet ally, to launch a new invasion front against Ukraine.

According to the official, the United States has demonstrated that it is able to rapidly modify its assistance to Ukraine in response to shifts in the nature of the conflict, and it would do the same in the event of a new offensive.

“We will respond, if necessary. He continued, “We’re also working right now to ensure that the Ukrainians have everything they would need to deal with that.”

The official went on to say that Ukrainians also have no intention of slowing down and intend to press for more of the territory that was taken from them.

“I believe the Russians must take that into account,”

Oleksii Reznikov, the defense minister of Ukraine, stated on Tuesday that Russia could prepare an attack force in Belarus to launch a new offensive against Ukraine, but he hoped Minsk’s troops would not participate.

In February, Russian forces launched an unsuccessful attack on Kiev from Belarus, but Minsk has not directly joined the conflict or sent its own troops into the conflict in Ukraine.
