U. S. Congress may expel Santos

Budrigannews.com – According to fellow Republican and Chairman of the House Oversight Committee James Comer on Sunday, U.S. Representative George Santos, who lied about a lot of his resume and life story, will be removed from Congress if it is determined that he has broken campaign finance laws.
Comer stated on CNN’s “State of the Union” program, “He’s a bad guy.” I, or any other member of Congress, have no authority to decide whether or not he should be kicked out for lying. He will now be removed from Congress if he violates campaign finance laws.”
Despite increasing pressure from within his own party, Santos has repeatedly refused to resign. He said on Thursday that he would only give up his seat in the New York City area if he loses the next election.
The newly elected congressman has been asked to resign by more than a dozen Republican officials, many of whom are from Santos’ district, which includes parts of Queens and Long Island. The demands for his resignation have been supported by at least six of his fellow Republican representatives from New York.
Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has stated that he will defer Santos’ fate to the Ethics Committee and voters.
