Budrigannews.com – Coca-Cola, a beverage giant (NYSE:) PepsiCo and Co. (NASDAQ:) Politico, citing sources, reported on Monday that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is conducting a preliminary investigation into Inc regarding potential price discrimination in the soft drink market.

According to the report, the Robinson-Patman Act is examining both businesses’ pricing strategies.

The antitrust law in the United States prohibits large franchises and chains from pricing small businesses differently.

Walmart (NYSE:) was one of the major retailers that the FTC contacted. Two sources told Politico that Inc. was looking for data and other information on how they purchase and price soft drinks for at least a month. According to the report, Walmart is not a target of the investigation at this time.
