Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:), which rose 7.58% or 37.10 points to trade at 526.60 at the close. Meanwhile, DCC plc (LON:) added 3.61% or 195.00 points to end at 5,595.00 and Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:) was up 3.00% or 121.00 points to 4,149.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:), which fell 8.06% or 30.50 points to trade at 347.90 at the close. Vistry Group PLC (LON:) declined 5.58% or 39.00 points to end at 660.00 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:) was down 3.70% or 9.20 points to 239.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 966 to 839 and 649 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.68% or 43.10 to $2,613.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.82% or 1.89 to hit $68.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.95 to trade at $72.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 106.25.
