Two planes collided in the air near Denver

Budrigannews.com – According to reports from local authorities, two small planes collided in midair over Boulder County, Colorado, killing three people and leaving two distinct crash sites.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that just before 9 a.m. local time, police “received multiple emergency phone calls” from people who saw the two aircraft collide 30 miles north of Denver.
According to police, both of the passengers on board the plane had passed away when first responders discovered the initial crash site. According to the sheriff’s office, the sole occupant of the second downed plane, the pilot, was also dead when rescue workers reached the wreckage.
The National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement that the two aircraft were Sonex Xenos and a Cessna 172. They also said that investigators are looking into what caused the accident.
According to the website of the company, the Sonex Xenos is a home-built aircraft made of lightweight aluminum. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk has four seats and only one engine.
In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said that the planes collided near Longmont, Colorado’s Vance Brand Airport, a general aviation airport.
