Twitter layoffs continue this time security council
Budrigannews.com – Twitter Inc (NYSE:) According to an email reviewed by Reuters, on Monday, the social media platform disbanded its Trust and Safety Council, a volunteer group established in 2016 to advise the platform on site decisions.
Since Elon Musk took over the company and started a drive to cut costs, about 3,700 employees, or half of its workforce, have been let go.
Yoel Roth, the company’s former head of trust and safety, is among the more than 1,000 employees who have resigned.

“We are rethinking the best way to incorporate external insights into our product and policy development work as Twitter enters a new phase. According to an email sent to Trust and Safety Council members and seen by Reuters, “We have decided that the Trust and Safety Council is not the best structure to do this as part of this process.”
According to a web archive for the page, the council was made up of academics, civil rights organizations, and other bodies that helped Twitter develop products, programs, and rules and advocated for safety.
In the email that Twitter sent, it stated, “Our work to make Twitter a safe, informative place will be moving faster and more aggressively than ever before, and we will continue to welcome your ideas going forward about how to achieve this goal.”
The Washington Post previously reported that the email from Twitter arrived less than an hour before council members were scheduled to meet with company executives via Zoom.
Three Council members quit last week out of concern for Twitter users’ safety.
Council member Anne Collier had tweeted, “It is clear from research evidence that, contrary to claims by Elon Musk, the safety and wellbeing of Twitter’s users are on the decline.”
Former CEO Jack Dorsey called Musk’s claim that council members were refusing to take action on child exploitation “false” in his response on the microblogging site.
