Twitter is cutting staff Bloomberg News reported
Budrigannews.com – Bloomberg News reported on Saturday that Twitter Inc. had made additional staff cuts in the unit responsible for hate speech and harassment as well as the trust and safety team that was in charge of global content moderation.
According to sources familiar with the situation, at least a dozen more layoffs occurred on Friday night and affected employees in the Dublin and Singapore offices of the company.
According to Bloomberg, Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, a recent hire as head of site integrity for the Asia-Pacific region, and Analuisa Dominguez, Twitter’s senior director of revenue policy, were among those laid off at the social media platform owned by Elon Musk.
The report also stated that team members responsible for misinformation policy, global appeals, and state media on the platform were eliminated.
Ella Irwin, Twitter’s vice president of trust and safety, told Reuters that the company had made some cuts to the trust and safety team on Friday night, but she did not provide any additional information. She stated via email that “we have not reduced the teams that do that work daily because we have thousands of people working in Trust and Safety who work in content moderation.” She added that some of the cuts were made in areas where consolidation made sense or where there was not enough volume going forward.
Musk cut costs by laying off roughly 3,700 employees at Twitter at the beginning of November, and hundreds more left after that.
A lawsuit was also filed against the business last month, claiming that the social media company discriminated against female employees in layoffs.
