Concerns have also been raised about Twitter’s ability to combat misinformation after the company laid off approximately half of its employees, including content moderators, under new CEO Elon Musk.
An update on Twitter’s blog page states, “Twitter is no longer enforcing the COVID-19 misleading information policy effective November 23, 2022.”CNN first reported the update on Tuesday.
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for additional information, and it was not immediately clear what specific measures it would eliminate.
Twitter implemented a number of measures in response to the outbreak of COVID in 2020, including a framework for users to remove tweets that made harmfully false claims about vaccines and labels and warning messages on tweets that contained disputed information about the health crisis.
