Since billionaire Elon Musk took over Twitter as CEO at the end of October, the incident is the social media site’s first apparent widespread service disruption.
More than 10,000 users in the United States, approximately 2,500 in Japan, and approximately 2,500 in the United Kingdom were affected at the peak of the disruption, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages through a variety of sources, including user reports.
The majority of the reports came from clients expressing they confronted specialized issues getting to the interpersonal organization through internet browser.
According to the website, reports of Twitter outages had decreased significantly by Wednesday evening, and some users later commented that service had resumed normally.
Twitter’s status page indicated that all systems were operational, and it did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Later on Wednesday, Musk tweeted that “Significant backend server architecture changes” had been implemented and that “Twitter should feel faster,” but he did not mention the downtime that users had reported.
During the blackout, a few clients said they couldn’t sign in to their Twitter account by means of work areas or PCs. A smaller percentage of users claimed that the issue also had an impact on the mobile app’s features, such as notifications.

Others posted updates and memes about the service disruption on Twitter, and the hashtag #TwitterDown became a popular trend.

Musk said in a tweet that he could still use the service.

The outage occurs two months after Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, which has been fraught with controversy and chaos.
Many Twitter representatives quit the web-based entertainment organization in November, by certain assessments, including engineers liable for fixing bugs and forestalling administration blackouts.
Before Musk took over, there were also global outages that affected thousands of Twitter users.
This year, outages have also affected other large technology companies. Rogers (NYSE:), Canada’s largest telecom operator, experienced a nearly 19-hour service outage in July. Millions of people have lost access to government, transportation, and banking due to communications.
