Trade barriers are increasing-WTO
Budrigannews.com – In a report released on Tuesday, the World Trade Organization stated that nations were increasing the rate at which they imposed trade restrictions, particularly on food, feed, and fertilizers.
According to WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, “of the 78 export restrictive measures on food, feed, and fertilizers introduced since the start of the war at the end of February, 57 are still in place, covering roughly $56.6 billion of trade.”
She stated, “These numbers have increased since the middle of October, which should be cause for concern.”
However, the report cited data through the middle of October to claim that nearly 80% of COVID-19 trade restrictions had been lifted.
