Tik Tok may be banned in U. S.

Budrigannews.com – Senator Chuck Schumer of the United States asserts that a proposal to outlaw TikTok in the country “should be looked at.”
We are aware that TikTok is owned by Chinese individuals. In an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on Sunday, the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, stated, “And there are some people in the Commerce Committee that are looking into that right now.” We’ll see how things turn out.
Friday, Florida Republican senator Marco Rubio and Maine independent Angus King announced that they had reintroduced new legislation to prevent TikTok from operating in the United States unless the company cuts ties with its current owner.
ByteDance, one of China’s most valuable private companies, owns TikTok.
China may use its laws to force TikTok or ByteDance to hand over US user data that could be used for intelligence or disinformation, according to US officials.
The US government has banned TikTok from official devices as a result of these concerns, and more than half of US states have done the same.
TikTok has previously refuted the claims, claiming that a US-based security team chooses who can access US user data from China and that it does not share information with the Chinese government.
On Monday morning, Asia time, the company did not immediately respond to a new inquiry for comment.
According to a statement issued by a House committee, the Singaporean CEO of TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, is scheduled to testify before Congress in March on a variety of issues, including TikTok’s privacy and data security practices, the company’s impact on young users, and its “relationship to the Chinese Communist Party.”
“The opportunity to set the record straight about TikTok, ByteDance, and the commitments we are making,” the company has stated previously.
The TikTok spokesperson went on to say, “We hope that by sharing details of our comprehensive plans with the full Committee, Congress can take a more deliberative approach to the issues at hand.”
