Three shot in Atlanta, police searching for gunman

(Reuters) – Atlanta police were searching for a person who allegedly shot three people in the city’s Midtown area on Monday in what police described as an “active situation.”
A police spokesperson said authorities had no additional details when asked about the total number of shots fired and about the condition of the three people who were shot.
Local media reported three people were hurt.
“We are currently working an active situation in Midtown,” the Atlanta Police Department said on Twitter (NYSE:TWTR).
“Please advise residents to stay off of the streets in the midtown areas, specifically the areas between 12th St and Peachtree St NE and 15th St and W. Peachtree St NW,” police said.
“Preliminary information indicates three people have been shot. The shooter is not in custody and we have multiple officers in the area searching for the suspect,” police said.
