The US is worried, North Korea is launching missiles
Budrigannews.com – After Pyongyang launched an intercontinental ballistic missile last week that was capable of reaching the U.S. mainland, the United States of America on Monday demanded that the president of the United Nations Security Council issue a statement to hold North Korea accountable for its missile tests.
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the American ambassador to the United Nations, reiterated the United States’ accusations that China and Russia were “emboldening” Pyongyang by preventing action from being taken by the Security Council, noting that it was essential for the 15 members of the council to respond in unison.
She stated at a Security Council meeting, “These two members’ blatant obstructionism puts the Northeast Asian region and the entire world in danger.”
“We will provide the Council with another opportunity to hold the DPRK accountable for its destabilizing actions and dangerous rhetoric.”She said, referring to North Korea by its official name, “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” “The United States will be proposing a Presidential Statement to this end.”
The situation on the Korean peninsula, according to China’s U.N. Ambassador Zhang Jun, is “in an upward spiral of rising tension and intensifying confrontation,” he stated.
He stated that the United States “should take the initiative, show sincerity, put forward realistic and feasible proposals, respond positively to the DPRK’s legitimate concerns and turn the dialogue into a reality as soon as possible.”
Zhang stated, “To prevent the situation from falling into a vicious cycle, all parties should remain calm, exercise restraint, act and speak with caution, and avoid any actions that may escalate tensions and lead to miscalculation.”
Zhang urged the Security Council to “play a constructive role on this issue” rather than constantly condemn the DPRK or exert pressure on it.The Council’s discussions ought to help lessen the tension.”He stated.
Anna Evstigneeva, Russia’s deputy U.N. Ambassador, said that the North Korean missile tests were caused by military drills that the United States and its allies Japan, South Korea, and Japan were doing, including using strategic bombers.
She stated, “It is evident that Pyongyang’s missile launches are the result of the short-sighted confrontational military activity of the United States carried out around the DPRK, which harms both its partners in the region and the situation in Northeast Asia as a whole.”
She went on to say, “The reason for what is happening is clear: Washington’s desire to force Pyongyang into unilateral disarmament by putting sanctions in place and using force.”
North Korea’s unfamiliar clergyman on Monday denounced U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres of favoring the US and neglecting to keep up with fair-mindedness and objectivity, saying creating weapons for self protection was Pyongyang’s right.
In response to North Korea’s most recent launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, the Group of Seven (G7) major industrialized nations’ foreign ministers stated on Sunday that the Security Council needed to take “significant measures.”Earlier on Monday, South Korea urged China and Russia to “actively cooperate” to stop North Korea from carrying out additional missile tests.
