The main film premieres of the Golden Globes in Hollywood

Budrigannews.com – The dark comedy “The Banshees of Inisherin” and Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” won the top film awards at the Golden Globes on Tuesday, bringing Hollywood back to a show that had been taken off television by scandal.

At the star-studded ceremony, “The Fabelmans,” a coming-of-age story based on Spielberg’s teenage years, won the award for best movie drama. The Irish island drama “Banshees of Inisherin,” about rival friends, won the award for best musical or comedy film.

Both films are likely to benefit from the awards in preparation for the Academy Awards in March.

Due to ethical lapses at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which organizes the awards, celebrities and broadcaster NBC abandoned the 2022 Globes.

This year’s ceremony, which provides publicity for winners and nominees and frequently boosts their chances of winning the Oscars, was supported by many of the biggest movie and television stars thanks to the HFPA’s other changes, including a larger, more diverse membership.

Except for a sharp monologue delivered by host and comedian Jerrod Carmichael, who opened the show by joking, “I’m here because I’m black,” the event proceeded largely as it had in previous seasons.

“One day you’ll be at home making mint tea. At the ceremony, which was live-streamed on Comcast Corp (NASDAQ:), he stated, “The next day you’re invited to be the Black face of an embattled white organization.” Peacock was used to stream the NBC network.

This year’s Globes were decided by about 200 journalists and other members of the international film industry. According to the HFPA, nearly 52% of those voters are racially and ethnically diverse, with 10% being Black.
