Budrigannews.com – According to a report released on Tuesday by the Federation of Thai Industries, vehicle production in Thailand increased by 4.02 percent in January over the previous year, reaching 157,844 units. This growth was aided by an increase in exports.
Surapong Paisitpattanapong, a spokesperson for FTI’s automotive industry division, told a news conference that a lack of semiconductors in some car models led to a 5.58 percent decrease in domestic sales in January compared to a year earlier.
After December’s 10.17 percent increase year-over-year, exports increased by 24.28 percent in January, and shipments could reach 1.05 million vehicles this year, he stated.
Car production increased 2.75 percent year-over-year in December.
Some of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers, such as Toyota and Honda, base their regional vehicle production and export operations in Thailand.
