BANGKOK (Reuters) – Thailand’s headline consumer price index rose 1.23% in December from a year earlier, lifted by higher energy and food prices, after the previous month’s annual increase of 0.95%, the commerce ministry said on Monday.
The figure compared with a forecast rise of 1.47% in a Reuters poll and was inside the central bank’s target range of 1% to 3% for the first time in seven months.
The core CPI was up 0.79% in December from a year earlier, lower than a forecast increase of 0.81%.
