Tesla to expand production in Mexico by 6 000 jobs

Budrigannews.com – Senior Mexican officials stated on Wednesday that Tesla Inc. will create up to 6,000 jobs at its first automotive factory in Mexico and is considering producing batteries in the center of the country as it seeks additional investment.
On Tuesday, the Mexican government stated that Tesla (NASDAQ:) Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is anticipated to provide details during an Investors Day presentation on Wednesday. had chosen the northern state of Nuevo Leon for a first factory in Mexico that would be worth more than $5 billion.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador stated, “(Musk) is interested in investing more in Mexico,” noting that the two had recently discussed the government’s plans to develop the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in southern Mexico.
Lopez Obrador said at a news conference that he had invited Musk to come to his state and wanted him to take a tour of the northern state of Sonora, where the government is building a huge solar energy park and trying to make lithium production run by the state.
According to him, “I told him lithium has been nationalized, but that doesn’t mean we can’t come to an agreement.”
According to deputy foreign minister Martha Delgado, Tesla chose Nuevo Leon for its plant because the border state is close to the company’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.
