Tesla (TSLA) Recalls Model 3 in China; Second Recall This Month
Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) China is recalling 14,684 Model 3 cars in the country due to software problems that could lead to collisions, the country’s market regulator said, the second batch of recalls for the U.S. car maker in April.
The cars being recalled do not show a unit for the speed numbers under Track Mode, which could mislead drivers and lead to collisions under extreme circumstances, the regulator said.
The recall covers vehicles from the 2018 through 2022 model years. Tesla will perform an over-the-air software update to address the issue. The company will contact owners of vehicles that cannot be upgraded that way so the upgrades can be done at Tesla service centers.
The regulator said earlier in April that the electric vehicle maker would recall 127,785 units of Model 3 cars for potential faults in semiconductor components that might lead to collisions.
Tesla declined to comment on the regulator’s announcements.
BYD (OTC:BYDDY) is also recalling 9,663 Tang DM electric vehicles for battery safety issues, the State Administration for Market Supervision added.
