Tesla increased sales due to discounts

According to CMBI’s data, Tesla’s average daily sales in China between January 9 and January 15 increased by 76% from the same period in 2022 to 12,654 vehicles.
That contrasted with a decline of 14.5 percent year-over-year in overall retail auto sales in China during the same week, despite an increase of 36.5 percent in sales of electric and hybrid vehicles in the nation, according to the data.
On CMBI’s sales data, Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In response to what analysts deemed indications of waning demand and intensifying competition in the world’s largest auto market, Tesla reduced the prices of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China starting on January 6 by between 6% and 13.5 percent.
Tesla cut prices in the United States and Europe after doing so in China and other Asian markets.
Aito and Xpeng, two electric vehicle (EV) brands supported by Huawei Technologies (NYSE:) Inc has reduced the prices of their electric vehicles in China like Tesla.
According to CMBI data, Xpeng’s sales decreased 36% from a year earlier during the week of January 9 to January 15. According to the data, BYD, Tesla’s larger competitor in China for electric vehicles, saw sales of 40,435 vehicles during the week, which included both EVs and hybrids.
